Family Film Festival at Prudential Center’s South Garden (in Boston) was already on my summer list of Things to Do off the Beach in New England (see full list here), so the VIP treatment offered to my family for an opening night last Saturday only added to the fun.
The Festival is FREE and open to the Public. To enjoy your summer in the city to the fullest, families are invited to come as early as 6pm, (activities start at 7pm). It was a beautiful night in Boston last Saturday- we arrived at 6 and there were already a couple of families on the ground:
The movie (it was “Boxtrolls” night last Saturday) started shortly after sunset (around 8:20pm) and although packed at that time, you could still find a couple of spots for your blanket if you arrived late.
But then- who would want to miss a Magic 106.7 DANCE Party? (Can you spot Vi?)
There were Kelly Clarkson concert give always (she was performing in the area the following night) museum passes and other giveaways; as well as character greetings.
I have not come out to Prudential’s South Garden before, and the “enclosedness” of the space had a comfy and family-friendly feel. As much as I like to spend time out of the city on summer weekends, SUMMER IN THE CITY has its magic (not to mention, conveniences!)
As part of our “VIP” treatment package, we were catered delicious food from “5-napkin burger” (you can see that there is much more than burgers on the menu (although Vit did try their “original 5-napkin burger” which he loved).
For similar VIP experience at the Festival, the organizers are offering a Family Film Festival GiveAway of “5 Napkin” $50 Gift Card and Prudential Center’s picnic blanket ($60 total value); although you are not limited to use the card only during Saturday Festival time, it could enhance your Festival experience.

What a great activity to do with the family. And, the dance party would definitely be a must for my crazy bunch. I love how much they catered to the kids with the characters too. Looks like a great summer line up- thanks for sharing!!
Thank you, Amber!
So fun!! I love outdoor summer events, and movies are especially fun! The movie line up are all family favorites too:)
This looks so fun!! I think movies in the park have replaced drive ins for family fun.
Love how cities are doing showing movies outdoors! What a great idea to include a family dance party. If only they had food trucks rolling by, but having a VIP burger all ready for you sounds pretty good. You can’t watch an outdoor movie without some great food to chow down on!
Jody, you can’t bring the trucks in because the event is inside the Prudential shopping center and is run by the center. There are many eateries in Prudential though- it’s a big city center mall; even a supermarket nearby.
We are in winter right now so this look particularly great.
We’ve had our share of winter this year, Danielle:)
Congrats on getting the VIP treatment! The family film festival sounds like a fantastic experience for families in Boston! Thanks for sharing the details – it’s great to know what to expect!
Thanks for following, Jolanta:)
We did outdoor film screenings a lot before kids came along. Now my daughter is almost big enough. Another year or two and we will be able to stay up late enough and not have to worry so much about which movies would scare her (Box Trolls was a total fail).
